Many would assume this is simply a spirit of Christmas, but its actually a very old tradition – Pine trees atop construction projects are part of a very old tradition which dates back to ancient Scandinavia. They are often hoisted up to the top storey of a building to signify the completion of the last floor. I even read that the evergreen is symbolic of a project completed with no lives lost. Now that is something to celebrate!
