ACCOUNTANT

Zehr Management is seeking an analytical and experienced accountant to manage the financial operations of our growing real estate portfolio and development projects. You will manage the full accounting cycle from construction project draws to operational property management, ensuring accurate financial reporting, budget tracking, and compliance.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Track Budgets: Monitor project expenses, analyze budget variances, and ensure projects stay on track financially
  • Manage Lender Draws: Prepare and submit timely draw packages and track funding timelines with lenders
  • Transactional accounting: Maintain general ledgers and take full ownership of the accuracy of financial records
  • Accounts Payable/Receivable: Process and code daily invoices, manage tenant billing, and ensure timely rent collections
  • Reconciliation & Reporting & Compliance: Reconcile bank statements, general ledgers, and assist in preparing monthly, quarterly, and yearly balance sheets and income statements for multiple entities in accordance with GAAP and company policies
  • Variance Analysis: Investigate discrepancies, identify root causes, propose solutions, and partner with cross-functional teams to obtain information, resolve issues, and support accurate reporting

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Bachelor’s degree (or college diploma) in Accounting, Finance, or a related field required
  • 3+ years of professional accounting experience, ideally blending real estate development and commercial/residential property management
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and intermediate-to-advanced hands-on experience using Yardi
  • Strong working knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and their application within real estate development and construction industries
  • Demonstrated ability to drive process improvements and work on strategic projects
  • Ability to work independently and support cross-functional teams
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities
