ACCOUNTING ASSOCIATE

Zehr Management is seeking an Accounting Associate who will report to the Senior Controller and be an integral part of the accounting team. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an early-career accounting professional to gain exposure to property management and real estate accounting while supporting key accounting functions across multiple entities. The successful candidate will work closely with the Accounting team and have opportunities for professional growth and development.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions.
  • Prepare and issue invoices while maintaining customer and vendor records.
  • Perform bank, customer, and vendor account reconciliations.
  • Investigate and resolve account discrepancies.
  • Support month-end reporting and accounting activities.
  • Assist with account setup, maintenance, and document management.
  • Prepare deposits and maintain accurate accounting records.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and accounting projects.
  • Provide cross-functional support as required.
  • Support internal reporting and financial analysis.
  • Investigate and resolve accounting discrepancies.
  • Work with QuickBooks, Yardi, Excel, and other accounting systems.
  • Support process improvement initiatives and system enhancements.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Diploma or degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • 1-3 years of accounting experience.
  • Experience in Accounts Receivable, Accounts Payable, or general accounting support.
  • Strong reconciliation and problem-solving skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office.
  • Experience with QuickBooks and Yardi is considered an asset.
  • Construction, real estate, or property management experience is considered an asset.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively within a team.
  • Strong communication and customer service skills.
