PROJECT MANAGER

Zehr Construction, the construction division of Zehr Group, is looking for an experienced Project Manager to join our growing team. ICI experience is an asset. In your capacity as Project Manager, you will be responsible for collaborating with Project Consultants and Site Supervisors in planning, budgeting, allocating resources, and providing timely completion of the project. They also ensure that the project is completed within the set budget and is within the scope. Additionally, they ensure the project delivers the expected results and benefits.

AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY

  • The management of major construction and renovation projects to ensure they are completed on time, within budget and to established standards
  • Responsible for all aspects of leading the project from start to finish. Overseeing and administering the concept, design, and assistance during the tender phase, as well as construction and commissioning phases
  • Developing a risk management plan, monitoring, and reporting on risk and developing relevant risk responses with multiple options to mitigate risk. Administration duties include creating the project plan, project scheduling and governance
  • Assistance with Scheduling of building inspections to meet Building Department requirements, building envelope, 3rd party, etc.
  • Establishing preliminary and final budgets for projects (Estimating).
  • Ensuring budget control is in place and monitoring costs during all phases resulting in project delivery on budget and on schedule. Formalize additions/credits to contract and ensure approvals in place by Client
  • Coordinating the procurement process with service providers, client groups, etc.
  • Analyzing the impact of project deferrals, cost overruns, potential delays and inform client groups; recommend measures to ensure the project requirements are addressed accordingly
  • Project site safety and management and collaboration with all third party and in-house resources
  • Any other reasonable tasks required to meet the requirements of this position in a professional and complete manner
  • Maintain familiarity of contract documents, and maintaining full records of changes, i.e., RFI’s, PCCO’s, CCO’s, etc.
  • Full review of drawing packages, specifications and project details to understand sequencing of installation and able to identify interferences, gaps in information and constructability
  • Maintain formalized changes to contract documents and agreed upon by all stakeholders
  • Vetting information received from trades, consultants and clients to ensure information flowing through is viable
  • Weekly site visits to review progress, identify issues, collaborate with site super and maintain excellent grasp on site conditions vs what is shown on paper
  • Full comprehension on trade subcontracts and what their obligations are to ensure they are held accountable to the highest standard and what is included part of their SOW and commitment
  • Prepare for and chair meetings with client, trades and Consultants
  • Schedule update meetings at least monthly with full reporting to Ownership
  • Maintain effective relationships utilizing effective communication (frequency and format)
  • Review of monthly trade invoices to ensure SOV’s are provided and rejection of overbilling. Review of monthly progress draw and vetting package prior to submission to Client

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED

  • Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in appropriate field of study or equivalent work experience
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is an asset
  • Proven working experience in project management
  • Excellent client-facing and internal communication skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Solid organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Experience with project management software tools, i.e., MS Project, etc.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products and Teams
  • General understanding of Procore construction software would be beneficial
  • Driver’s license is a must

Compensation will be based on experience, education, and performance. Expenses will be paid on a monthly basis for car mileage in accordance with Canada Revenue Agency regulations. Other related work expenses are to be approved. The regular office hours are from Monday to Friday. Compensation is based on a 44-hour work week. The successful candidate will be entitled to participate in any and all of the Company’s group insurance plans and any other benefit programs (the “Employee Benefits”) which may be in effect for all employees of the Company during employment.
