Zehr Group’s Specialty Contracts Division has been selected to complete renovation work at the Albert McCormick Community Centre on behalf of the City of Waterloo. The project forms part of a broader multi-phase renovation and retrofit program aimed at modernizing the facility while improving accessibility and inclusivity for community members.

As part of the current phase of work, Zehr Group is completing washroom upgrades and renovations to the library and community spaces. The project includes the installation of a fully accessible universal washroom equipped with a shower, adult change table, and ceiling lift, designed to support a wide range of accessibility needs.

Additional improvements include the creation of 12 single-use, gender-neutral washrooms—two of which are barrier-free—as well as gender-neutral changerooms, along with upgrades to existing washroom facilities, lighting, and HVAC systems. These enhancements are part of a larger effort to expand and modernize the community centre and library while ensuring the building better serves residents of all ages and abilities.

Through this work, Zehr Group is helping deliver inclusive, accessible public spaces that will support the Albert McCormick Community Centre as a vital hub for recreation, learning, and community programming in Waterloo.
